JOE PALMER has been competing and teaching ballroom, Latin and swing for ten years. He majored in dance education at New York University where he was the president of the NYU Ballroom Dance Club as well as captain of the competitive team.
Some of his competition credits include 1999 American Lindy Hop Classic Division Champion, first place in the Rising Star West Coast Swing at Summer Hummer 2002, fourth place in showcase at The USA Grand Nationals, third place in the Champions Crossover Jack & Jill at The Boston Tea Party, first place in West Coast Swing at the Manhattan Amateur Classic as well as first place in the Championship Latin American Division. Joe has placed in numerous other competitions around the United States, Canada and England.
Joe started performing around the age of 8 when he and some classmates wrote, directed, and performed in a short film about Haley's comet. That hooked him. He has been on the stage in some form or another ever since. Some of his favorite starring roles were in "Little Shop of Horrors", "West Side Story" and "Dark of the Moon". Joe made his New York stage debut, in modern dance, with Sara Pearson & Patrick Widrig and Company at the Joyce Theater. Then he moved on to a dance company called "SwingDance America", which allowed him to perform his own choreographic work as well as the work of many top-ranked professional American swing dancers. He could also be seen in the American and Canadian National Tour of Dean Reagan's "Forever Swing".
His screen credits include the "Today Show", "The Ainsley Harriet Show" and the film "Mona Lisa Smile" and off-off broadway "The Manhattan Hour" - a variety show which he co-created with Lou Brockman, Heather Gehring and Nicole Frydman.
